At Portobello Community Centre, we take pride in fostering an inclusive and caring environment for all. Whether you’re young or young-at-heart and regardless of the generation you belong to, our community centre is a place where kindness and fun intertwine. We strive to create a welcoming space that embraces diversity and encourages meaningful connections between people from all walks of life. We believe everyone should have access to community activities. If you’re on a low income and need support with subs, please contact the office or group leader in confidence.

MONDAY

Sewcial Crafting Group – 10am to 1pm. Crafting enthusiasts of all skill levels come together to bring their own projects and share ideas in a welcoming and inclusive community. To find out more please call Sarah on 07496 021214 or Wendy on 07757 322001. £4 for adults and £2 for children who can sit and sew or craft. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  

TUESDAY

Craft and Photography Group – 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Bring your own crafts and learn from others. £2 per session. Adults only.

Alcoholics Anonymous – 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Get help with your drinking problem at this friendly & supportive group. Call Gareth on 07540 881731 or just come along.

WEDNESDAY  

Baby and Toddler Group – 9.15am to 11am. Group for pre-school children and their parents/carers.  Term time only.    £1 adults / £1 babies and toddlers.          

THURSDAY

Portobello Drop In – 11am to 1pm. Come along for a chat and an activity. Term time only.  Donations welcome.

Chair Based Zumba with Sophie – 1pm to 2pm. Get fit, dance, make friends, smile, and shimmy. From chair workouts to circuit sections, and of course, shimmying. This is a fun mash-up to music for mixed abilities lead by personal trainer and professional belly dancer Sophie Mei aka The Sparkle Coach. This class is for all ages and levels with a focus on chair adaptations to ensure it’s fully accessible and inclusive. Kung Fu – 7pm to 9pm. Want to get fit & learn new skills? This is the total package for mind, body & soul. 7pm to 8pm for beginners / 8pm to 9pm for more experienced people. Beginners fees £3 per week (adults no grade), £2 per week (junior 10-16 years). For graded fees please speak to Sifu Dave on 07762 310348.

FRIDAY

Sewcial Knitters and Modellers – 10am to 1pm. Bring along any craft you want.  We have knitters, modellers, sewers and crafters.  To find out more please call Wendy on 07757 322001. £4 for adults and £2 for children able to sit and craft and must be accompanied by an adult. 

SATURDAY

Trinity Modelmakers Group meet every 2nd Saturday of the month – 10am to 1pm. All types of modellers and skill levels welcome. We are affiliated to Models for Heroes, are an inclusive group and welcome people with mental health issues. Yorkshire Black Sheep Modellers meet every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month – 10am to 1pm. Our small group has modellers of all ages and abilities and interests.
